Lady Trojans Drop First Two Games of the Season

Updated on 06/10/2022

The East Jackson Lady Trojans opened the 2017 season last night against Ottawa Lake-Whiteford.  Both games were won by Whiteford; 16-0 in 4 innings and 11-1 in 5 innings.  Ottawa Lake-Whiteford, ranked 6th in division 4, was a quarterfinalist last year and returned all starters from the 2016 team.  The Lady Trojans struggled on the mound in game one, giving up 11 walks.  Whiteford took advantage of those free passes.  Senior Baylee Sears was the first base runner of the game as she was hit by a pitch to lead off the 3rd inning.  The Trojans did not get a hit in the first game.  Looking to bounce back in the second game, freshman Livi Talmage took the hill and did a good job overall.  Sophomore Alex Kilpatrick got the first hit of the season for the team and Hannah Saunders also had a hit.  The game was close until the third inning when Whiteford scored 5 runs to open up the margin.  The first four hitters all reached safely without the ball leaving the infield.  Alexis Brzezinski, also a freshman, and Angel Sharp had hits for the Trojans as well.  The team travels to Addison on Wednesday to open up the Cascades Conference.
